Dr. Kathryn Hoiriis
Dr. Kathryn Hoiriis is a Georgia native, while she was raised in and around Decatur, her home is now in Suwanee, Georgia.
In 1977, Dr. Hoiriis graduated from Georgia State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology. In 1989, Dr. Hoiriis graduated from Life Chiropractic College (now Life University) in Marietta, Georgia and she began her private practice in Decatur, Georgia.
Dr. Hoiriis is a member of the Decatur Business Association, the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA), the Society of Chiropractic Orthospinology, the Georgia Chiropractic Association (GCA) and the American Chiropractic Association (ACA).
Dr. Hoiriis was a professor at Life University where she taught research methods and design to graduate-level chiropractic students. She also served as the Director of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) at Life University with responsibilities in managing faculty development programs; as well as to provide encouragement, guidance and support to faculty and students who managed research projects at Life University. Upon retirement from these positions in 2016, she continues involvement with Life University.
She has worked in chiropractic research since 1986. Dr. Hoiriis was the principal investigator of randomized, double-blinded, controlled, clinical trial on low back pain, an investigation coordinated between Life University and the 1993 World Health Organization Low Back Pain Initiative. The results of this trial were published in 2004 in the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics. Her curriculum vita and full list of publications are available upon request. She is a member of the editorial review board for the Journal of Chiropractic Medicine and a peer-reviewer for the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics.
Dr. Hoiriis practices Yang-Style Tai Chi Chuan and teaches Tai Chi for Health and Harmony at Life Center for Seniors and at Fulton County’s HJC Bowden Center Senior Citizen Facility. Individual instruction is also available at Hands-On Health Center.
